Svet Kozak had five saves for the Bears, who will face No. 7 seed Trumbull on Saturday at West Haven at 4:30 p.m.

The Golde Eagles, who are the reigning FCIAC champions, set up an all-FCIAC semifinal with a 1-0 victory over No. 18 seed Glastonbury.

Norwalk advanced to its first state semifinal since 2004 and also avenged a loss to Farmington in the 2008 state tournament.

In the regular season, Norwalk dropped a 2-0 decision to Trumbull on Sept. 22.

2. Norwalk field hockey reaches state finals

Esthimia Kutrubis scored with six seconds left in overtime Wednesday, lifting the third-seeded Norwalk field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Glastonbury and a berth in the Class L state finals.

The Bears will face top seed Cheshire, which eliminated No. 20 Greenwich 2-0 in the other semifinal, on Saturday at Wethersfield at 2 p.m.

While Darien, Greenwich, Wilton and New Canaan are the traditional FCIAC field hockey powers, Norwalk will be playing in its first state final. The Bears lost in their previous two appearances in the state semifinals.

The FCIAC is guaranteed to get a second team into a state final as Darien and Wilton meet in the Class M semifinals on Thursday.

Lidsay Musio scored in the first half to give Glastonbury (14-3) a 1-0 lead at the intermission, but Norwalk tied it on a goal by Katie Schmidt.

Christine Mace assisted on both goals for Norwalk, which improved to 15-3-1. Shannon O'Malley made four saves for the Bears.
