Norwalk boys soccer clinches top seed

The Norwalk boys soccer team, which has lost just once all season, wrapped up the top seed for the FCIAC playoffs Monday with a 4-2 victory over New Canaan.

Nick Zuniga scored three goals and Kevin Joslyn added one for the Bears, who improved to 13-1-1 with one game remaining in the regular season.

Norwalk visits Greenwich on Wednesday before the FCIAC quarterfinals begin on Friday.

The Bears' only loss came at Trumbull on Sept. 22. Since then, the Bears are 10-0-1.

2. Maddafari fifth at cross country championships

McMahon senior Chris Madaffari finished fifth Monday in the FCIAC cross country championships with a time of 16:20 at New Canaan's Waveny Park.

However, he was the only Senator to place in the top 50 as McMahon finished 13th in the team competition.

Norwalk was seventh with four runners in the top 50:No. 29 Edwin Rosales (17:21), No. 41 Ian McGrath (17:51), No. 43 Dashiel Murphy (17:58) and No. 50 Christian Bonebrake (18:11).

In the girls' race, Norwalk finished 12th. Claire Turner was the Bears' top finisher, placing 36th with a time of 16:29. McMahon was 15th.
