Norwalk's Ron Silk increases lead in WMT standings
Despite being involved in a crash during Sunday's CarQuest Fall Final 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway, Norwalk's Ron Silk was able to increase his points lead in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour standings.

Silk overcame the crash on lap 98 to finish seventh in the race and build his lead to 57 points over childhood friend Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield heading into the Oct. 16 finale at Thompson International Speedway.
Szegedy was running in eighth position - one spot ahead of Silk - when he spun out on lap 148.

Szegedy came into the event trailing Silk by only seven points, but slipped back in the standings after finishing 22nd on Sunday
While a tour championship is not guaranteed, Silk needs to finish no lower than 10th to claim his first series title. Szegedy won the series championship in 2003.
"Silk could wreck just like I did," Szegedy told the Hartford Courant. "I'm not even worried about it. Whatever. I'm going to get second."
