Norwalk Seeks to Strengthen School Residency Rules
The school district is grappling with a significant increase in enrollment.

NORWALK, CT - With districtwide enrollment at 110 percent of capacity, the Norwalk Board of Education is looking at taking a tougher stance when it comes to residency requirements for students.
The Hour reports that a perception is growing among parents and school officials that an increasing number of out-of-district families are illegally sending their children to Norwalk schools.
Just how many students might are illegally enrolled in Norwalk schools has not been exactly determined, but one estimate places the possibility at about 100.

The district's residency rules were last overhauled more than 30 years ago, and has only received minor updates twice since 2002, according to officials.
