The girls basketball team locked up an FCIAC playoff spot in convincing fashion Monday.
Briana Ruffin scored 18 points as the Bears rolled to a 71-29 victory over Bridgeport Central to improve to 14-5 overall and 12-5 in the FCIAC.

Emma Oyomba added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Norwalk, which is locked into the No. 6 spot for the FCIAC playoffs that begin this weekend. Alexis Noonan added 10 points for the Bears.
Norwalk opened a 17-7 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 38-20 at the half. The Bears then outscored the Hilltoppers 33-9 in the second half, including 18-2 over the final eight minutes.

Central dropped to 2-16 and 1-15.

Josh Wilkerson scored 31 points Tuesday, leading the Bridgeport Central boys basketball team to a 91-82 victory over Norwalk.
Yasaar Abdul added 22 points for the Hilltoppers, who improved to 10-6 overall and 9-6 in the FCIAC. Robert Blackwell contributed 10 points for Central.
Saeed Soulemane scored 20 points and Roy Kane 16 for the Bears, who dropped to 10-8 and 8-8.
Norwalk had four players reach double figures in the high-scoring affair as Rasheen Thompson contributed 15 points and Ra'Von Shular chipped in with 13.
Central raced to a 25-20 lead after the first quarter and extended its margin to 49-37 at halftime in a game in which little defense was played.
Central than outscored Norwalk 24-21 in the third quarter to take a 73-58 lead into the final period.

The McMahon boys basketball earned a rare win Monday with a 47-42 victory over Harding.
Larry McKinney scored 11 points and Darkym Stroud added nine for the Senators, who improved to 3-14 overall and 3-12 in the FCIAC.
Harding dropped to 3-14 overall and 2-13 in the FCIAC,

The McMahon girls basketball team suffered a 68-55 loss to Harding on Monday.
Kayla Crosswelle scored 16 points and Karley Barreno added 10 for the Senators, who dropped to 3-16 heading into Wednesday's season-finale against Fairfield Warde.
Neish Franco pumped in 29 points to lead Harding, which improved to 4-15.
Harding jumped out to a 41-33 halftime lead in a high-scoring game, then outscored the Senators 27-22 in the second half.
