The  Norwalk High School boys basketball team was officially eliminated from the FCIAC playoff race following Monday's 81-75 overtime loss at Danbury.

The Bears concluded their regular season with a 10-10 overall record and an 8-10 mark in the FCIAC.

Danbury improved to 11-8 and 9-8 with one game left in the regular season. The Hatters are in a five-way tie for seventh in the FCIAC with Bridgeport Central, Greenwich, Fairfield Warde and Trumbull.

Rasheen Thompson scored 26 points to lead Norwalk, which squandered a 41-29 halftime lead. Jabari Dear scored 14 points and Roy Kane Jr and Ra'Von Shular each added a dozen for the Bears.

TJ Jackson poured in 29 and Danyjoel Harris added 19 for the Hatters, who will have a chance to clinch at FCIAC playoff at home on Wednesday against Greenwich.

Norwalk lost its final three regular-season games and four of its last five to fall out of FCIAC playoff contention.

Meanwhile, McMahon (4-15, 4-13) played the role of spoiler, likely eliminating Staples from the FCIAC playoff race with a 64-62 win over the Wreckers.

The Senators improved to 4-15 overall and 4-13 in the FCIAC while the Wreckers dropped to 9-10 and 8-9 heading into Wednesday's regular-season finale at Bassick.

Staples is behind five teams who are tied for seventh in the FCIAC standings at 9-8 -- Bridgeport Central, Danbury, Greenwich, Fairfield Warde and Trumbull.

Peter Rankowitz scored 24 points and Michael Argosh added 16 for the Wreckers, who squandered a 28-14 lead after the first quarter and a 38-21 edge at halftime.

Staples still seemed to be in good shape with a 55-39 lead entering the final period, but the Senators turned around the game by outscoring the Wreckers 25-7 in a stunning final eight minutes.

Darkym Stroud scored 15 points and Jimmy Martinez added 14 for McMahon, which closes its season on Wednesday against Bridgeport Central.
