The girls basketball gave Hillhouse a test Thursday before falling to the fifth-seeded Academics 64-57 in the second round of the Class LL state tournament.
Erica Cohens scored 15 points to lead the 12th-seed Bears, who finished the year at 16-7, while Emma Oyomba and Katie Schmidt added 14 and 11, respectively.

After trailing 34-30 at the half, Norwalk outscored Hillhouse 16-11 to take a 46-45 lead into the final period. But the Academics took control down the stretch at home, outscoring the upset-minded Bears 19-11 over the final eight minutes to avoid the upset.
Bria Holmes was unstoppable, scoring 33 points for the Academics, who improved to 20-2.

Norwalk's Brandon Riggins will compete in the New England wrestling championships this weekend in Providence.
Last week, the senior finished first in the 195-pound weight class at the state Open championships.
Riggins, who placed third in the state Open last year, improved his career record to 126-17, including 41-0 this season.
Riggins had seven takedowns in a 17-9 victory over Class S champion Kyle Foster of Somers in the state Open final.
“It was pretty satisfying to win here after taking third last year,” Norwalk coach Job Fernandez said. “He has been very consistent all year. He has incredible balance, great hips and is very good all around. His lower body strength is great.”
