Norwalk Stays Alive In Babe Ruth Regionals [Video]
Matt DiUrno pitches complete game and knocks in two runs as Norwalk used timely hitting and solid defense to defeat Plymouth, Mass., 4-1
After a few games of cold bats in clutch situations, Norwalk broke out of its slump Monday night, scoring three runs in the fifth inning on four hits to defeat Plymouth, Mass., 4-1 in the 13-year-old Babe Ruth New England Regionals.
Corey Hayes got the inning started with a single and after a strikeout, Edwin Owolo walked. Matt Parlanti singled, scoring Hayes to give Norwalk a 2-1 lead.
With two out and runners on second and third, winning pitcher Matt DiUrno helped his own cause by blooping a single into left field to bring home Owolo and Parlanti.

The extra insurance runs allowed DiUrno and Norwalk to close out Plymouth in the seventh inning and stay alive with its second straight win in the loser's bracket
Norwalk manager Tom Cossuto breathed a sigh of relief after the game, knowing that his team’s bats finally came alive. Norwalk also played solid defense, allowing only one unearned run.

The lone Plymouth run came across when third baseman Christian Lengyel misjudged a popup in the third inning, allowing Kyle Mann to score. At that point, it looked like Norwalk was going to let the game slip away.
Lengyel redeemed himself in the top of the fourth, hitting a double to the center-field wall, which scored Parlanti from second to tie the game.
Plymouth’s Kyle Mann pitched an excellent game, striking out five through the first four innings to keep Norwalk in check.
Norwalk faces a hot New Milford team on Tuesday at 4.p.m at Brien McMahon High School. New Milford downed Manchester, N.H., 7-0 earlier Tuesday.
The two Connecticut teams will battle it out to see who gets to advance to the loser's bracket finals.
