Norwalk Storm-Delayed Garbage, Recycling Schedule Released

Norwalk has made changes to its garbage and recycling pickup schedule due to the forecasted storm.

NORWALK, CT — City officials said Tuesday there will be no City Garbage and Recycling collection services Wednesday, March 7, due to the forecasted winter weather.

Garbage and recycling collection will be pushed back one day, and will follow a different schedule for the remainder of the week, according to a release.

  • If you receive collection on Wednesdays for garbage and recycling – your collection will be on Thursday, March 8
  • If you receive collection on Thursdays for garbage and recycling – your collection will be on Friday, March 9
  • If you receive collection on Fridays for garbage and recycling – your collection will be on Saturday, March 10

Officials ask that residents please remove garbage and recycle containers from the curb.

The Norwalk Transfer Station, located at 61 Crescent Street, will be open on Wednesday, March 7 at 7 a.m. but will close early at 11 a.m. in anticipation of the storm.

The Yard Waste Site located at 15 South Smith Street will be closed Wednesday, March 7, but will be open on Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9. The site's hours of operation will be 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., however the scale closes for lunch from approximately 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
