Norwalk Tax Payment Deadline Is August 1

Norwalk Tax Collector's office shares important information about recently mailed tax bills.

From Norwalk Tax Collector: The Norwalk Tax Collector’s office released the following information reminding taxpayers that the tax payment deadline is Thursday, August 1, 2019. Tax bills, which reflect the recent citywide property revaluation, were mailed beginning on June 19 and must be paid by August 1 to avoid interest charges.

General Information:
Norwalk taxpayers have until the close of business on Thursday, August 1, 2019, to pay their property tax bills for real estate, motor vehicle, and business personal property taxes, and sewer use charges, without interest penalty. Bills were mailed to Norwalk taxpayers beginning on June 19. These bills are due July 1, 2019, and reflect the first installment of charges due on the Grand List of October 1, 2018.

The Tax Collector’s office is located at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue, Norwalk, Conn. 06856, and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay by mail. Payments postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before August 1, 2019, are timely, regardless of when the Tax Collector’s office receives them. Taxpayers may also pay taxes at one of 13 Norwalk bank branch locations of the following banks: Bankwell; M & T Bank; Fairfield County Bank; Patriot National Bank; Webster Bank; TD Bank; and Norwalk Bank and Trust. There is no charge for the service, and the taxpayer does not need to be a customer of the bank to walk in and pay and must bring the current tax bill. The banks only accept payments through August 1.

Taxpayers may also pay over the telephone using their card by calling toll-free 866-974-8090. Credit, debit, and ATM cards may also be used to pay in-person at City Hall.
