Norwalk To Test App-Based Bus Service: Report

The city will test an Uber-like app that would allow users to summon a bus to wherever they are.

NORWALK, CT — The city will test a new app that allows riders to summon a bus to wherever they are, rather than waiting at a predetermined stop, the Norwalk Hour reported. The new form of transportation will be piloted beginning Sept. 13.

According to the Hour, bus drivers would receive alerts that riders are ready to be picked up. The Uber-like service would then pick up other riders along the way based on an algorithm.
