Norwalk Transit Employee Stole $20k+: PD

He committed the theft through a payroll scheme, police said.

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk Transit District employee was charged with stealing more than $20,000 from the organization through a payroll scheme, according to police.

Police got a complaint about employee theft in February and found that Otis Weeks, 39, had been manipulating payroll records by adding extra hours to certain employee's pay, police said. The additional hours generated a separate check which Weeks would then steal and forge signatures in order to deposit them. To sign up for Norwalk breaking news alerts and more, click here.
