[Video]: Norwalk Trounces Fairfield 22-2; Forces Deciding Game in U-13 District Tourney
Dan Romanello had three and four RBI and pitchers Matt Diurno and Kyle Pisacrita held Fairfield to two hits. The two teams face off again Thursday at Bunnell (5:30 p.m.) to decide the championship.
Norwalk scored early and often en route to a 22-2 victory over Fairfield on Wednesday in the finals of the 13-year-old District One Babe Ruth tournament at Bunnell.
Norwalk collected 20 hits while Matt Diurno and Kyle Pisacrita combined on a two-hitter. The rout set up a winner-take-all battle between the teams on Thursday at Bunnell (5:30 p.m.)
Norwalk's offense was a total team effort with four players getting three hits and three players contributed three or more RBI. It also scored with great base running while capitalizing on Fairfield's many fielding miscues, one of which allowed a run to score from third on a balk.

Norwalk used its aggressive base running and timely hitting to put the game out or reach early. Fairfield was not able to get a player to third base until the fourth inning.
Colin Logan singled in Roger John with Fairfield’s first run in the fourth and the team received a standing ovation from its fans in attendance.

Dan Romamello had the big blow in the third, a bases-clearing double that made the score 8-0. Romanello also doubled in the first and finished with three hits and four RBI.
Edwin Owolo was a big factor for Norwalk, stealing four bases and scoring three runs. Corey Hayes (three hits and three RBI), Christian Lengyel (two hits and four RBI) and Matt Parlanti (three hits) all contributed as well.
Since its first-game loss to Trumbull, Norwalk has scored 10, 20 and 22 runs, respectively, to stay alive in the tournament.
