NORWALK, CT — Norwalk's weekend centers on two of its signature attractions, from Thursday, Oct. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 11: a Gilded Age mansion with a brand-new portrait exhibition and the Maritime Aquarium.

This Weekend's Arts & Entertainment

  • "The Evolving Icon" and "Revolutionary Roots" — Thursday through Sunday; tours at noon and 2 p.m. (90 minutes) and 1 p.m. (45 minutes). The mansion museum's new show of contemporary portraits, created with the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists, opened Oct. 7, alongside "Revolutionary Roots: Generations of Change," with period costumes and artifacts tied to Revolutionary War ancestors. Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, 295 West Avenue
  • Maritime Aquarium — Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 4D theater is showing "Monster Mayhem 4D" and "BBC Earth's Shark: A 4D Experience." Admission is $39.95 for adults, $34.95 for seniors and $29.95 for children ages 3 to 12, with 4D films $7.95 extra. Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, 10 North Water Street

Tour the mansion's new portraits on West Avenue, then head to the harbor for sharks and a monster movie at the aquarium, and Norwalk's long weekend covers both history and the deep sea.
