Norwalk Wins Again In Legion Northeast Regionals

Advances to winner's bracket final as Patrick Donohue tosses a six-hitter in a 3-1 win over Worcester, Mass.

Patrick Donohue tossed a complete-game six-hitter as the Norwalk senior American Legion team defeated Worcester, Mass, 3-1, Friday
in Old Orchard Beach, Maine to advance to the winner's bracket final in the Northeast Regionals.

Donohue walked one and struck out four for Norwalk, which is now one game away from playing for the championship and a spot in the American Legion World Series.

Matt Ederle went 2-for-3 for Norwalk, including a RBI single in the top of the second inning that made it 2-0. Kevin Lawrence scored the first run of the inning on a wild patch.

Ederle added another RBI single in the fourth, giving Norwalk a 3-0 cushion. Donohue blanked Worcester until giving up an RBI double to Steve Flynn in the seventh.

Worcester threatened briefly in the eighth, but Donahue escaped a first-and-second jam with a double play, then pitched a perfect ninth to keep Norwalk unbeaten in the tournament.

Norwalk will take on Bedford, N.H., which blanked Colchester, VT., 3-0 on Friday, in the winner's bracket final on Saturday at 7 p.m.

If Norwalk wins, it advances to Monday's championship at 1 p.m. If it loses, it will play in the loser's bracket final on Sunday at 1 p.m.
