Norwalk Woman Charged With DUI After Hitting Pole: Westport PD

Police said a Norwalk woman has been charged with operating under the influence after hitting a utility pole in Westport last year.

WESTPORT, CT — Police said a Norwalk woman has been charged with operating under the influence after hitting a utility pole with her vehicle last year. According to a press release, officers were dispatched to a report of a one-car motor vehicle collision on Riverside Avenue on Nov. 13, 2018.

Police said the vehicle had struck a utility pole and the driver was identified as Natalie Longo, 21, of Norwalk.

"In speaking with Longo, officers smelled an odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath and observed she was unsteady on her feet," Lieutenant Jillian Cabana said in a release. "Longo was transported to the hospital for treatment. The investigating officer learned Longo had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to the incident and her blood alcohol content had been above the legal limit."

Police said an arrest warrant application was submitted for the accused and later approved. The accused turned herself in on the outstanding warrant Saturday, police said.

Police said she was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol and failure to drive in proper lane.
