Savannah College of Art and Design By Morgan Henry I was fortunate to spend time with Sophia Lubin. Sophia is a Carver alumnus who graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) a few years ago. Sophia returned to the classroom to share her talent and advice just as other Carver Alumni had done for her. I feel as if I know so much about SCAD because of Sophia. She was a very successful student who went on to work for Aeropostale as an assistant designer. Sophia is now doing freelance work. Her portfolio is so impressive and inspiring. I am interested in studying art, so I advocated for SCAD to be included on this year college tour itinerary. When we pulled onto the campus I felt chills as I would now get to see the school I have dreamed of for quite some time. There was no doubt that SCAD is an art school because the artwork is well displayed and is a part of the campus’ overall welcoming experience. The school has many art based majors offered at four different locations including Savannah, Atlanta, Hong Kong, and Lacoste, France. SCAD is home to one of the largest sculpting studios for some of their fine arts majors. About 2,000 students are enrolled at the Atlanta campus. SCAD students are intellectually capable and have a passion for the arts. I love this school because of the small yet extremely diverse environment. Hopefully, I will be successful in gaining admission and be among the graduating class of 2018.
