Not your Grandmother's Art Show

"Beyond Brushwork"

The next exhibition, “Beyond Brushwork,” opens at the Rowayton Arts Center on Sunday, February 4 (4-6pm). Exhibiting Members prove that one does not always need a paintbrush or a camera to make beautiful art. In this show, you will see digital art, drawings, mixed media, paper cuts, pastels and prints. The Gale Parsons Memorial Award will be presented to the winner in the category of Mixed Media. Also opening on

Sunday in the Portside Gallery is the solo show of award winning artist, Pierre Lahaussois. Both exhibitions will be on view until Saturday, February 24.

The exhibit chair is Diane Weeks and co-chair is Britt Bair. The exhibition judge is Laura
G. Einstein, whose career has included curating, lecturing and museum work at Yale
University Art Gallery, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the IBM Gallery of Science and
the Glass House in New Canaan. From 2014-2017, Ms. Einstein was Executive Director
of the Center of Contemporary Printmaking. Currently she is Principal of LGE Fine Art
Consulting.

Also on Sunday, February 4 (2-4pm) is an art demonstration by Patti Mollica from the
paint manufacturer Golden Paints. Patti will demonstrate the latest techniques and offer
tips for painting with acrylics. Join us afterwards for the opening reception in the gallery.
Both the art demonstration and the reception are free and open to the public.

The Spring Juried Show opening March 4 is an open call to all artists. Check the website

For almost 60 years, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a cultural gem in the
community. It is an exceptional gallery where regional artists may exhibit and sell their
art as well as a wonderful venue for art workshops and classes. The Art School offers
classes to children and adults at all levels. The RAC Gallery and Art School are located
on the bank of the scenic Five Mile River in Rowayton, CT at 145 Rowayton Avenue.
