This is from Rilling's Wednesday announcement:

  • Governor Lamont announced that the State of Connecticut is partnering with philanthropic organizations in an effort to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable residents in the state who are most directly impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency and are otherwise ineligible from receiving assistance through federal pandemic relief programs, including those from within the undocumented community. More details are available at ct.gov.
  • The Department of Social Services is working with participating food retailers—Amazon, Walmart and ShopRite—to offer online purchasing of food with SNAP benefits in Connecticut. SNAP enrollees will be able to use SNAP benefits available on their EBT debit-type card to purchase eligible food items online for delivery or curbside pickup at participating food retailers. More information can be found at ct.gov/snap.
  • The public is reminded that masks or face coverings are required to be worn at the Norwalk Transfer Station and Yard Waste Site. This does not apply to anyone for whom doing so would be contrary to their health because of a medical condition.
  • The Senior Services Coordinating Council is running a drive-thru necessities drive for elderly and disabled communities in Norwalk affected by COVID-19. Items needed include hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, tissues, garbage bags, and dish sponges. The event will be held on Sunday, June 14, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 11 Allen Road in Norwalk.

"I was pleased to see the Governor's announcement of a private-public partnership to help those impacted by COVID-19, especially for residents who are undocumented," Rilling said. "The Federal government has left thousands of Connecticut residents behind, and I appreciate the state working toward a solution. This assistance will certainly help those who are in need and I hope more groups will continue to step up to help their communities."
