Obit: Robert Armstrong, Longtime Rowayton Resident
He was an active volunteer with the boy scouts and Explorer Post in Darien

Long time Darien and Rowayton resident Robert Dean Armstrong, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2017. Born July 8, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska he was the son of the late Harold Scaife Armstrong and Louise Palmer Armstrong. Bob spent his early years in Des Moines, Iowa; Wilmette, Illinois; and Old Greenwich, Connecticut. He graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Bob began his career with American Bankers Association ultimately becoming the Director of Automation and was on the team that established the CUSIP number. He was an Executive Recruiter with Boyden Executive Search, Coopers & Lybrand as well as founding his own firm, Armstrong & Company. For years, Bob was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 53 and Explorer Post 53 in Darien. He was the proud father of two Eagle Scouts and a Life Scout. He had a lifelong interest in the outdoors particularly fishing, boating, shooting and camping.
He greatly enjoyed his time spent golfing, traveling and with latest technology. He was a member of Wee Burn Country Club and The Union League Club.Bob was predeceased by his wife of over twenty years Jeannie Kay DeKlyn Armstrong and sister Janet Lusk. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Todd Armstrong, and daughter Lee Armstrong. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Abigail, Jack, Elizabeth, Hannah and Kathryn as well as his niece Wendy Lundgren and nephew Andrew Lusk.Robert will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, storytelling, generosity and devotion to his family and friends.
