Obituary: Daniel Rory Fahy, 69, Of Norwalk
His crowning achievement, second only to the pride and joy he felt for his children, was designing and renovating a home for his family.

Daniel Rory Fahy, 69, devoted husband of Maureen Swords Fahy and loving father of Rory and Kiera, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2019, surrounded by family.
Danny was born on August 22, 1949, in Utica, NY. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Clark Fahy. He lived in Sauquoit, NY for the first 18 years of his life and had a happy childhood working on nearby farms with his brother while pulling numerous pranks on each other. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1972.

Dan was a consummate athlete. After college he played semi-pro football for the Hartford Knights. Dan developed a passion for running completing 8 marathons and numerous Boilermaker races through the course of his running career. When injuries sidelined him he substituted biking for running.
He was an avid golfer continuing to play on a weekly basis through much of his battle with cancer. He instilled his love of sports in his children and he coached his children’s soccer, basketball and football teams.

On St Patrick’s Day in 1989 he met the love of his life – Maureen – in Luke Malloy’s Irish pub and they celebrated 30 happy years together on March 17, 2019. Throughout his work career he was a skilled carpenter and General Contractor building many upscale houses in nearby towns. His crowning achievement, second only to the pride and joy he felt for his children, was designing and renovating a home for his family realizing a lifelong dream.
In addition to his wife, Maureen, Daniel is survived by his children; Rory Fahy of New Haven, CT and Kiera Fahy of Norwalk, CT, brother; Kevin Fahy and his wife Clare of Sauquoit, NY, nieces and nephews; Scott Fahy, Kristin Fahy, and Allison and Bob Ryan. He is also survived by ten brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; 18 Swords nieces and nephews and 11 grandnieces and nephews on both sides.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Church (216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk). Interment will be at a later date. Friends may call on Friday, May 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home (92 East Avenue, Norwalk).
