Obituary: Eleanor A. Koenig, 83, Of Norwalk

She loved to travel and spend time with her family, and was very giving and caring.

Eleanor A. Koenig, age 83 of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, July 24. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Koenig. Eleanor was born in Stamford on January 8, 1935, the daughter of the late Mario and Antoinette (Pompa) Frattaroli.

She was a graduate of Stamford High School and worked for several years at Pitney Bowes and the Factory Outlet. Eleanor was very involved with the Special Olympics, STAR and Our Vision. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, and was very giving and caring.

Survivors include a son, Robert J. Koenig, a daughter Deborah Sears and her husband Todd, son-in-law Thomas E. Smith, grandchildren Thomas J., Jessica A. and Justin T. Smith and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was also predeceased by her daughter Cheryl Ann Koenig Smith and her siblings Mario J. Frattaroli and Frances M. DeSalvo.

Eleanor’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home (12 Mott Ave., Norwalk) on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a funeral service to begin at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Our Vision, Inc., 3 Dorchester Dr, Westport, CT 06880, c/o Jack Breeden.
