Obituary: James Anthony Heverin, 63, Of Norwalk

James loved to volunteer with "Sit Means Sit," bringing his therapy dog and best friend, Troy the Goofy Newfie, to visit group homes.

James Anthony Heverin, 63, loving husband of Mary Jo (Troccoli) Heverin, died suddenly on Friday, February 25, 2022, at his home in Norwalk.

Born in Manhattan, the son of Irish immigrants James Andrew and Catherine (Moyles) Heverin, he was predeceased by his brother Sean Heverin. James grew up in the Bronx, NY where he attended Cardinal Hayes High School and was a star goaltender for their hockey team.

James had retired from General Reinsurance Berkshire Hathaway, where he worked in I.T. for 30 years. In his retirement, he loved to volunteer with "Sit Means Sit," bringing his therapy dog and best friend, "Troy" the Goofy Newfie, to visit group homes around Westchester County, five days a week. He loved cruising in his hot rod, a 1912 Ford C Cab. Above all he loved being a Poppy to his only granddaughter, 2 year old Scarlett Kaye Bartek.

In addition to his wife Mary Jo, of 35 years, he is survived by his children Kristan Bartek (Heverin) and her husband Stephen, Jamie Heverin and her companion Matt Caulfield, and Justin Troccoli; sister Mary Fagan and her husband Mark; sister in law Joanne (JoJo) Troccoli; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends who he called family.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until services begin. Memorial donations may be made to: APSCA (www.aspca.org), PAWS (www.paws.org), or the American Diabetes Ass. (www.diabetes.org).
