Obituary: John N. Samodel, 92, Of Norwalk
John was an avid reader who loved puzzles, making friends and family laugh and enjoyed his food, especially desserts.

John N. Samodel, 92 of Norwalk died peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 with his loved ones by his side, at his home in Norwalk. Born in Parksville, N.Y., the son of the late Alex and Tekla (Pyrih) Samodel, he was the husband of the late Hazel Charity Gunzy Samodel.
John served in the US Army, and was honorably discharged as a 1st Sergeant, after serving in World War II and Korea. He was a Member and Trustee of the VFW Post #603 and a life member of the American Legion, Post #12.

John was an avid reader who loved puzzles, making friends and family laugh and enjoyed his food, especially desserts. He worked as a Carpenter for 40 years and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #210. He was the Superintendent of Flax Hill Apartments for many years.
John is survived by his loving daughter Cheryl A. Samodel of Norwalk, his brother Nicholas Samodel of Norwalk and sister Anne Samodel of Seymour, as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends on Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home (12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church (45 South Main Street, Norwalk). Entombment with military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery.
