Obituary: Kevin F. McCaul, 95, Of Norwalk
Kevin practiced as a pediatrician in Norwalk for 45 years and was an active member of Shorehaven Golf Club for over 50 years.

Dr. Kevin F. McCaul, a Norwalk resident for 60 years, died on February 3, 2019 at the age of 95. Born and raised in Letterkenny, Ireland, he was the seventh of nine children of George and Margaret (McGinty) McCaul from Co. Donegal, Ireland. He is predeceased by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Kevin graduated from St. Eunan’s College in Letterkenny and then received his M.D. from University College, Dublin. He worked in hospitals in Ireland and England and attended The Radcliffe Infirmary at Oxford. Concluding his studies, Kevin traveled around the world as a ship’s doctor for six months and volunteered as a doctor at the 1948 Olympic Games in London.

In 1955, he trained in Pediatrics at The University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he was Chief Resident in Pediatrics his final year. He was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and was a co-founder and active member of the Irish/American Pediatric Society.
Kevin practiced as a pediatrician in Norwalk for 45 years at 10 Mott Avenue; first in partnership with Dr. James Minor and Dr. Jack McNamara and later with Dr. Diane Allawi. He retired in 1999 at the age of 75. He was an active member of Shorehaven Golf Club for over 50 years. He loved spending time outdoors, and in particular, working in the yard. He was an avid reader of history and English literature.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Colette (Kilmartin), he is survived by their three children; Kevin D. McCaul and his wife Selena (Kuo) of Norwalk, Brian G. McCaul and his wife Robin (Staack) of Lake Mary, FL, and Fiona M. Andren and her husband Eric of Fairfield, 5 loving grandchildren; Reid, Lindsay and Charlotte Andren, and Paige and Will McCaul.
His family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home (12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk). A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb 11 at Assumption Church (98 Riverside Avenue, Westport), with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the Norwalk Hospital Foundation.
