Obituary: Mary Elizabeth Danberg Nadig, 85, Of Norwalk

She lived in Norwalk for decades before moving to Trumbull in 2009 to live with her daughter and family.

Mary Elizabeth Danberg Nadig (dubbed Mary Sunshine), died peacefully in her home on August 12, 2023. Mary had a full and wonderful life.

Born May 10, 1938 in Norwalk, CT. Graduated Norwalk Highschool in 1956. After graduating Laselle Junior College, she married her high school sweetheart, George Nadig. They lived in Norwalk until 2009 at which time she moved to Trumbull to live with her daughter and family.

Mary was a social butterfly and had many friends whom she loved like family. Her friends meant the world to her, and was always there to lend a helping hand. She really cared.

Mary served as secretary to the Vice President of Finance at Save The Children Federation for over 30 years.

For years Mary also ran self-help groups out of her home for people with anxieties and phobias. In her retirement she was a happy member of the Lifetime Learners at Norwalk Community college and active in the "Special Events" planning committee.

Being hard of hearing at very early age, Mary was very involved in the Hearing Loss Association of America Fairfield County chapter for many years.

Mary loved to travel and plan trips – whether she went on them or not. She had many memorable vacations with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, George Avison Nadig. Survived by her daughter, Lori Jeanne Bach and her son-in-law John W. Bach of Trumbull, CT, son, Richard Avison Nadig, of Errol, NH, Grandson, Brian J Bach of Shirley, MA and a Granddaughter, Lindsey M. Nadig of Antioch, TN.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, at Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St., Westport.
