The following obituary of Norwalk resident Robert Joseph Davenport, 99, is from Magner Funeral Home:

Robert Joseph Davenport, 99, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, November 14, 2019.

He is survived by his five children: Michele Ives, Paul Davenport, Katie Garych, John Davenport, and Bob Davenport; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of seventy-five years, Patricia Davenport.

Robert served our nation in Army Radio Intelligence throughout Europe during World War II. A Radio Intercept Operator in the 137th Signal Radio Intelligence Company, he was awarded the European Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

After the war, he worked as Assistant Vice President of The Bank of New York Mellon in Manhattan until his retirement.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 on Wednesday, November 20, at Christ the King Church, 209 Tackora Trail, Ridgefield. His family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery, 223 Richards Ave, Norwalk at approximately 11:30.
