Obituary: Terrence 'Terry' Page, 62, Of Norwalk

On December 13, 2023, Terrence "Terry" Page passed away at Norwalk Hospital after his two-year fight with Colon cancer. He is survived by his mother, brother, sister, wife, three kids, six nieces and nephews, and a community of friends and neighbors who miss him dearly.

Terry "was" a lot of things by the occasion of his passing. He was 62 years old. He was predeceased by his father, Francis, in 2008. He was born and raised in Norwalk, CT, by his fortunately patient mother, Helen, with some timely and appreciated guidance from his Uncle Russell and Aunt Carolyn. He grew up on Burlington Drive in a charming yellow home full of love with his fun-loving brother, Francis (named for their father), and his strong and supportive sister, Megan. He built his own charming home just down the road, where his kids would grow up. He was a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a curiosity, meaning he could talk to almost everyone about almost everything.

He was perhaps the greatest catcher to ever sport the Partners Cafe logo under the bright lights of Calf Pasture. Without a doubt, though, he was the best teammate and friend the kids from the block could have hoped to have on their team. His coaching career was more of a mixed bag, partly because he felt it was important that every kid got a chance to learn the fundamentals and enjoy playing the game. He was a dedicated and present coach; he saw victory in watching the kids on his team grow each season, even if their win column did not.

For many of his lifelong friends and neighbors, he was a classmate at Norwalk High School before training to be an upholsterer, a profession that let him talk to people, work on cars, and build something new with his hands, three things he was known to enjoy. He was a business owner who set up the Front Page Upholstery shop on Leonard Street. He was an avid boater and a South Norwalk Boat Club member who would brighten the tiki bar before leading the deck in a rendition of Sweet Caroline after a day floating around the islands on the sound.

To his niece and goddaughter Kate and his nephews Shane, Cooper, Zach, and Kyle, he was, in no particular order, a wordsmith, guiding light, reasonable employer, race car driver, captain of the open seas, and four-wheeler dealer. Most importantly, he was the dedicated and present Uncle T, always willing to see a game midweek or watch a race on a Sunday afternoon. His infectious laugh could melt away time passed or the miles between them throughout a phone call.

On the occasion of his passing, Terry "was" a lot of different things; he wore as many different hats as there are to wear when you are a dedicated family man and engaged community member. To his family, though, he still "is" one of the most amazing men to have lived. Who, despite filling every day, deserved so much more than could possibly fit what feels like the minuscule space of just 62 years. He is a loving and loyal husband to his wife, Lisa, who wouldn't give up a second of the 33 years they spent laughing and loving together while raising their family in the city they both grew up in. He is a father who'd do anything for his children, including his daughter Riley, who embodies his humor and his sense of purpose in hard work. His son Colin who picked up both his deep commitment to helping people, especially young people, and his stubborn determination to hide it. His eldest son and apprentice wordsmith, Ryan, who wishes he had a few more lessons to find the right words for a time like this and a lot more on how to be a devoted new husband from a seasoned professional. He is finally at peace after a long fight with an opponent who fought dirty the whole time, which did nothing to deter Terry from being dedicated and present. Lastly, though he "is," now and forever, the wonderful father, friend, and husband that we will all miss terribly, whose memory lives on and inspires us to live life and love one another unconditionally even when we can't all be together. Because that is, throughout his life, the way he loves us.

Terry's memorial services will be held at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd, Norwalk, CT 06851, on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome. The interment at St. John's Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the South Norwalk Boat Club Scholarship fund in his honor.
