Timothy Patrick Dineen, age 86, beloved husband of Kathleen, of Norwalk, CT passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022. Born to Margaret (Riordan) Dineen and Denis Dineen on February 12, 1936, in Bronx, NY along with his best friend and identical twin brother, Jerry. The following year the twins were joined by their brother, Jack.

Tim enjoyed retelling old neighborhood stories of growing up in the South Bronx, trips to Orchard Beach and Yankee Stadium. The boys made the best of what they had which built the foundation of Tim’s strong work ethic and the value of a Catholic education. Tim’s education had a profound influence and was a source of pride. All one had to do was mention Cardinal Hayes High School (Up Hayes!) to hear stories about his high school years and what the school meant to him.

During his time at Cardinal Hayes, Tim would attend school during the day then make his way to his job as an office boy with Union Carbide in Manhattan. After graduating from Hayes, Tim continued to work at Union Carbide while attending night school to earn his undergraduate degree from City College of New York (CCNY) and graduate degree from New York University (NYU). Starting as an office boy, Tim continued his career at Union Carbide for a forty-year tenure, working his way to become the Global Head of Credit.

A few years after finishing school and a short time in the Army, Tim met the love of his life Kathleen at the NYC Newman Club. They were married two years later and together raised seven children. After six years in Chicago and Atlanta, Tim and Kathleen relocated with their four young boys to Wilton, CT. Three more children would be welcomed in what would become their home for the next 45 years.

Over the course of the next few decades Tim and Kathleen would immerse themselves in their Wilton community. Tim was very involved in youth sports, helping in any way he could. Tim spent many years coaching, recruiting parents and umpiring games well after his children had finished playing. He was also a long-time member of infamous Golden Oldies softball team.

Our Lady of Fatima parish was a second home, as Tim and Kathleen knew the value of a strong Catholic education. All seven children attended the OLF school and participated in various parish activities. It was at Fatima and through the Catholic church where Tim made his biggest impact on people. Whether it was being a Eucharistic minister, member of the Men’s Ministry, lector, RCIA, bible study, VIRTUS instructor, Right to Life, volunteering at the assisted living facility Wilton Meadows and the community “soup kitchen” in Norwalk. His actions were never meant to be noticed, it was his way of living a good life and helping others.

Tim was the loving father to Martin (Laura), John, Kevin, Terrence (Sandra), Nancy, Brian (Rachael), Maura (John); loving grandfather and Pop Pop to Matthew, Jack, Annie, Miguel, Catherine, Madeline, James, Makena, Maeve, Brodie, Molly, Erin, Daniel and Quinn; brothers Jerry (Barbara) and predeceased by his brother Jack.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk CT. Mass Friday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT.
