Obituary: Zenaida Acosta Sardinas, 97, Formerly Of Norwalk

Zenaida passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16,2024 in Homestead, Florida. She left this world the same way she lived her life, with grace and courage, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Zenaida was born on October 11,1926 in Camagüey Grande, Matanzas, Cuba. She then moved to Havana where she met and married her husband, Fermin Sardinas on December 18, 1954. She was married to her loving husband Fermin for almost 70 years.

Zenaida and Fermin immigrated to the United States in 1956, starting a new life in New York City, then moving to Port Chester, NY in 1963 where they lived for almost 50 years. Zenaida and Fermin later moved to Norwalk CT and then to Homestead, Florida in 2021.

Zenaida is survived by her husband Fermin, her loving son Nelson and adoring daughter Iris, as well as her son in law Paul and 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Aly), Jonathan (Kristen), Brandon (Marisa), Samantha (Christopher), and Kristen.

Zenaida loved going for long walks, gardening, and cooking, but her true passion was being a devoted wife, an inspirational mother and the best Abuela in the world. She was greatly loved and will be forever missed. Her faith in God carried her through life’s trials and tribulations and she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May she rest in eternal peace.
