Officer Injured While Pursuing Stolen Vehicle: Norwalk PD
Norwalk police said an officer was injured while pursuing a stolen vehicle after the suspect intentionally struck the officer's cruiser.

NORWALK, CT — Norwalk police said an officer was injured while pursuing a stolen vehicle after the suspect intentionally struck the officer's cruiser. The incident occurred Tuesday at approximately 3:05 a.m., police said.
Police said officers from the Patrol Division responded to an Assisi Way residence after a Chevy pick-up truck was reported stolen. The vehicle description was immediately broadcast to all patrol units, and an officer later spotted the vehicle travelling southbound on the Route 7 Connector, according to a release.
Police said the vehicle entered Interstate 95 southbound and pulled to a stop on the exit 14 off-ramp. As the
officer pulled behind the truck, it suddenly accelerated backwards into the front of the police car, police said.

Police said the cruiser was disabled as a result of the damage caused by the intentional collision, and the
officer lost sight of the stolen truck. The officer sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, police said.
The vehicle was later spotted travelling on Flax Hill Road, where officers attempted to stop it, police said. The suspect refused to stop and drove directly at a marked police car, police said.

Police said the officer was able to swerve and avoid the oncoming stolen car, and officers continued to pursue the vehicle until it crashed into a parked car in the Rowayton Woods complex on Highland Avenue.
Police said the suspect fled from the vehicle and was chased on foot by officers before they lost sight of the suspect on Possum Circle. A Westport Police K-9 assisted with the search, however the suspect was not located, police said.
