Pacific Crab Found in Norwalk Water Stumps Experts

A dungeness crab typically found in the Pacific was located off the Norwalk coast.

NORWALK, CT — A fisherman at Copps Island Oysters brought a dungeness crab to the Maritime Aquarium and said that he found three more south of the Norwalk Islands.

The crab is native to the cold waters of the Pacific and is a popular dish due to its sweet meat, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Dungeness crabs have been seen off coasts in the Atlantic including Florida, the Carolinas and Alabama. The last northeast sighting was in 2006 off of Massachusetts.
