Pallets Of Alcohol, Fiber Optic Connectors Catch Fire In Norwalk: FD

NORWALK, CT — Crews extinguished a heavy fire that broke out at a Woodward Avenue warehouse Monday afternoon, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Fire Chief Steve Shay said firefighters responded to a fire outside at 139 Woodward Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found heavy fire emitting from multiple pallets of fiber optic connectors and pallets containing alcohol.

According to Shay, the bottles of alcohol are used to clean the fiber optic cables.

The fire spread to an adjacent warehouse building. Smoke from the blaze "could be seen for miles," Shay said.

No injuries were reported. Shay said the monetary value of the products is believed to be substantial.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Shay said.
