Panel to discuss integrated behavioral and physical care

March 10 program from NAMI Southwest CT focuses on holistic healthcare that aids individuals and families living with mental illness

NAMI Southwest CT will host a panel discussion to explain how local health centers are combining high-quality medical, dental, psychiatric and substance abuse services in an approach to care that is particularly important for those living with mental illness. Community health centers in Stamford and in Norwalk now provide these co-ordinated services as part of their integrative care practices. The panelists will explain how coordinated care works to treat the whole person, and how these services can be accessed regardless of ability to pay.

The program will take place March 10, 7:30-9pm at at Tully Health Center, Conference Room B, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford, Connecticut.

Panelists
Dr. Tichianaa Armah
practices and teaches psychiatry at Yale, and is the Behavioral Health Medical Director at the Franklin Street Community Health Center in Stamford. Her primary interests are in community psychiatry, holistic approaches to mental health, patient education, and cultural psychiatry.
Dr. Darius Fathi is a psychologist at Community Health Center Inc., specializing in behavioral health integrated with primary care. His training background includes outpatient addiction treatment, intensive therapy for teens and adults with severe mental illness, and integrative care. He has extensive group therapy, couple therapy, and family therapy training and experience.
Nicole Seagriff is a Nurse Practitioner and the On-Site Medical Director at The Day Street Community Health Center in Norwalk and the Franklin Street Community Health Center in Stamford. She has worked as a primary care provider for the past 4 years after graduating from Yale University in 2011 with her Master’s degree in Nursing.
