What is your occupation?

Community Liaison

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

My daughter, Zoe is 15 years old and a sophomore at Norwalk High School.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

No

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I'm running because 60% of our children can't read on grade level.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Mental Health. As a behavioral health provider and active member of the local prevention council I recognize that our children's voices matter. After reviewing the results from the Norwalk Youth Voices Count survey, I'm concerned as a mother.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My expertise in the mental health field. My direct contact with adolescents and their families and breaking down barriers to get them connected to treatment and/or resources.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

As per the NPS End of Year Superintendent report, in grades K-10, 60% of our children can't read on grade level. Also, 80.9% of Black students, 76.6% of Hispanic students and 39.1% of White students are NOT future ready.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Many of the policies of the BOE are good, but they're not enforced. This has created a climate of disrespect, bullying and safety issues on the rise.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I am a mother. I am community-minded leader who is highly invested in my community and the well-being of our children and their families.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Do the next right thing, even when people aren't watching.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

It would be an honor to serve on the BOE. I will always remember that I work for the students, taxpayers and teachers.
