Juvenile Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries In Stabbing: Norwalk Police

Police responded to Norwalk High on Friday evening for a stabbing and two arrests have been announced, police said.

NORWALK, CT — A male juvenile suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing that occurred at Norwalk High School on Friday evening, police said.

At 5 p.m. Friday, police received a call reporting a stabbing at Norwalk High School. Officers found a juvenile victim on the football field, police said. Officers rendered aid until Norwalk Hospital EMS arrived. The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officers learned that two adult non-student males were loitering in the area of the basketball courts at Naramake Elementary School, police said. Officers were told that one of the males, later identified as Tyllis Gay, approached a juvenile on the basketball court and punched him in the face, police said.

The other adult male, later identified as Dior Sebastian Bell, approached another juvenile and stabbed him with a knife, police said. Both Gay and Bell then fled the scene, police said. According to witnesses, both attacks were unprovoked, police said.

Officers obtained suspect descriptions and began searching the area. Gay was located nearby and engaged officers in a foot chase, police said. Officers quickly apprehended Gay and later recovered a knife nearby, police said. Detectives quickly located Bell on Strawberry Hill Avenue and took him into custody, police said.

In a statement, Norwalk Public Schools says it "applauds the Norwalk Police Department for their swift action in this case. We will continue to support their investigation moving forward. We want to remind families that this incident occurred after school hours and the individuals involved were not at Norwalk High School for any school-related events. The Norwalk Public Schools Crisis Intervention Team will be available at Norwalk High School on Sunday to provide social and emotional support for students, staff and the community. The Crisis Intervention Team will remain at the school throughout next week to provide ongoing support for staff and students."


Arrested: Tyllis Gay, 21, of 138 Strawberry Hill Ave., Norwalk, CT.

Charges: Conspiracy to Commit Assault First, Assault 3rd, and Loitering in or About School Grounds.

Bond: $50,000

Court date: 3-31-23


Arrested: Dior Sebastian Bell, 21, of 329 Strawberry Hill Ave, Norwalk, CT.

Charges: Assault First, Conspiracy to Commit Assault First, and Loitering in or About School Grounds.

Bond: $100,000

Court Date: 3-31-23
