All candidates were required to complete a candidate questionnaire and "be in 100 percent agreement with Planned Parenthood’s position on reproductive health," according to the organization.
Chris Corcoran, Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut PAC (PPV!CT PAC) Board Chair, spelled out in a statement why Planned Parenthood decided to make endorsements in Connecticut for the first time.

"Our decision was based in part by the national dialogue where access to women’s health care is under fire," said Corcoran. "We are very proud to endorse candidates who are committed to protecting reproductive health care. The candidates we endorsed drive policy on women’s health care. Connecticut women and families should know that these candidates would ensure vital services remain intact."
