Police Arrest Norwalk Man, Seize Narcotics: Westport PD

Westport police said officers seized narcotics and a loaded handgun following the arrest of two men.

WESTPORT, CT — Westport police said officers seized narcotics and a loaded handgun following the arrest of two men. The incident occurred Thursday at approximately 2:45 p.m. after the suspects' vehicle was stopped on Saugatuck Avenue in the area of Duck Pond Road, police said.

Police said the suspects were stopped for driving with a license plate officers found to be registered to a different vehicle. An officer who approached to car smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a K-9 unit was requested to the scene.

The driver was identified as Abdullah Seifullah, 37, of Stamford, and the passenger was identified as Jerrod Smalls, 36, of Norwalk, police said.

While searching the vehicle, a Norwalk police K-9 located a loaded handgun inside the center console of the vehicle, police said. A coffee mug was also found in the center console, which police said contained 46 Methylone pills, plastic bags containing approximately 12 grams of marijuana and money believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales.

Police said a soda can with a hidden compartment containing five small glassine baggies of crack cocaine and a scale were also found inside the vehicle. Officers also learned Seifullah was the subject of a protective order and was not allowed to possess firearms, police said.

The suspects were both arrested on charges of Sale of Hallucinogen/Narcotic, Sale of Controlled Substance, Carrying a Pistol or Revolver Without a Permit, Weapons in a Vehicle, and Criminal Possession of Pistol or Revolver, according to police.

Police said Seifullah was additionally charged with Criminal Violation of a Protective Order, and was issued a misdemeanor summons for charges of Misuse of Plates/License/Registration, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Insurance Coverage Fails Minimum Requirements.

Both men are being held on $100,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 25, police said.
