Police Investigating Fraudulent Checks Being Sent To Norwalk Homes: PD

Police said recent cases involving fraudulent checks being mailed to homes in Norwalk are being investigated at a federal level.

NORWALK, CT — Police warn residents to be on the lookout for fraudulent checks being mailed to homes in Norwalk.

Police said on Facebook the checks appear to be from the "IRS" and "U.S. Treasury" but are made out to people who do not exist.

"We have also received reports of individuals then coming to the addresses and retrieving the checks from the residents' mailboxes," police said on Facebook.

The United States Postal Inspectors Office, along with the U.S. Treasury, are investigating these incidents at a federal level, according to police.
