Police: Woman Arrested for Leaving Baby Alone in SUV in Norwalk
The Stamford woman allegedly left the baby alone in the car twice during the day while she worked out at the gym.

A concerned citizen’s keen sense of hearing led her to find a baby crying alone in a car in Norwalk Wednesday.
Police were summoned to a parking garage at 770 Connecticut Avenue on a report of an infant alone in a vehicle.
Officers found a Toyota SUV with its windows up and the four-month-old inside. They gained entry and the infant was sent to the hospital for evaluation and was later released to the father.

Police arrested mother Hiroko Kurihara, 46. She allegedly worked out at the gym for an hour in the morning and again for thirty minutes at midday while her child was in the SUV alone.
She was charged with two counts each of risk of injury to a minor and unattended child left in a car.

Police Chief Tom Kulhawik praised the concerned woman who heard the baby and spent several minutes searching the garage. She immediately alerted police and waited at the scene for them to arrive.
