Popular Dessert Chain Opens New Norwalk Location

The new bakery recently opened in Norwalk, offering customers a wide selection of cakes and more.

NORWALK, CT — Nothing Bundt Cakes, a new bakery offering fresh-made cakes and baked goods for customers, is now open in Norwalk.

According to General Manager Ashaire Gorham, the popular dessert franchise's new Norwalk location held its soft opening a few weeks ago and will host a grand opening Oct. 24.

Located in a shopping plaza at 406 Westport Avenue, Gorham said traffic from the road and nearby stores such as Marshalls and Robeks Fresh Juices & Smoothies, among other businesses, was one reason the area was a good fit for the bakery.

The bakery serves a variety of cake sizes, ranging from "the big bundt" to "bundtlets" and "bundtinis by the dozen."

According to a menu at the store, all cakes are handcrafted in bakery and crowned with signature cream cheese frosting.

"Think of homemade cake," Gorham said to Patch, "like old school homemade cake before Betty Crocker and box cake mix, think of that."

Gorham emphasized everything at the bakery is made from scratch.

"We don't have box cake mix," Gorham said. "Everything is flour, sugar, things like that. We bake daily, so everything is fresh...so the freshest ingredients you can think of, think of us."

Available flavors in Norwalk include red velvet, white chocolate raspberry, confetti, carrot, lemon, classic vanilla, chocolate chocolate chip and strawberries and cream, as well as gluten-free options and limited time flavors such as pumpkin spice and German chocolate cake.

In addition to pumpkin, Gorham said her favorite "go-to everyday" flavor is Oreo cookies and cream.

Gorham also noted the store makes a point to donate food and give back to the community as much as possible.

"I'm a Norwalk native so I know the community, I know a lot of people in the community," Gorham said. "I actually worked for the city of Norwalk in high school. I was a lifeguard at the beach. So it's really fun to give back to other people, especially the community that gave to me."

The Oct. 24 celebration will include a family fun event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring face painting, ballon art, a live DJ, a prize wheel and free cake samples.

A ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Barbara Smyth and the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce will also be held Oct. 22 at 11 a.m.

The Norwalk bakery is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the company's website.
