NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools said Sunday night a student reported seeing a "possible threatening message" at Brien McMahon High School, prompting a police investigation.

In a Facebook post, district officials said they immediately notified police after the incident was reported.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are implementing additional protocols [Monday] at all schools to ensure that students and staff feel safe," the post reads.

According to the district, school leaders and security guards have been notified of the incident. As a result, students may see an increased police and security presence at their school Monday.

"As always, safety and security are our primary concern," the post reads. "We will let you know if we have any additional information."
