District officials noted they consulted with their weather service early Thursday morning, who reported an expected timing of snow and freezing rain, as well as the potential for flash freezing conditions during travel times.
The district also consulted with the city's Department of Public Works on road conditions while NPS facilities crew assessed the schools.
"Based on this input, NPS will be closed [Thursday] to make sure students, families and staff stay safe," district officials said.
