Preview of 'Fences' at Ridgefield Theater Barn UPDATED

Fences Will Not Be Opening This September

UPDATE FROM RIDGEFIELD THEATRE BARN:

Fences Will Not Be Opening This September

It is with great disappointment that we must announce we are postponing our production of Fences. Unfortunately one of our leads has been transferred overseas for work, and must leave immediately. There is simply no time to re-cast such a vital role, if we are to present this play with the integrity it deserves. Such is the world of theater.

However, as saddened as we are not to be opening our 52nd Season with Fences, we are still committed to presenting this important and powerful play, and we are incredibly overjoyed that the rest of the cast will be staying on for the production which will now go up in February. In addition, our entire production crew, with the exception of our beloved Assistant Stage Manager, Jim Bollinger, are also carrying over to the new production. And we have already been lucky enough to find an incredibly talented replacement for our lead.

Please help us in welcoming the cast and crew of our Fences (February 2018) production:

ORIGINAL POST:

Pulitzer Prize Winning Fences Opens at Theater Barn September 15th

The Ridgefield Theater Barn will present Fences, the Pulitzer Prize, Tony, and Drama Desk Award-winning play by August Wilson beginning Friday, September 15th at 8pm.

Directed by Katherine Ray, and produced by Craig David Rosen, performances will continue Friday and Saturday evenings through September 30th, with Sunday matinees September 17th and 24th at 5pm.
Bringing together an incredible ensemble of actors from the tri-state area, the production features Shelby Davis, Dan Fedrick, Dania Fedrick, Andrew F. Graham, Kevin Knight, Tracey McAllister, and Steffon Sampson.

Set in the 1950s, Fences is the sixth in Wilson's ten-part American Century Cycle. Like all the American Century plays, it explores the evolving African-American experience and examines race relations, among other themes. Winning multiple awards, the play was first developed at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 1983 National Playwrights Conference.

Due to strong language and adult themes, the play is recommended for mature audiences only.
The Ridgefield Theater Barn is located at 37 Halpin Lane. Seating is cabaret style and audiences are encouraged to bring food drinks to enjoy before the show. Doors open one hour prior to curtain. Tickets ($35 for adults, and $28 for students, veterans, and seniors), are available at ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org
