Principal Appointed At Roton Middle School In Norwalk
The Board of Education recently appointed Edward Singleton as principal of Roton Middle School, a position he has held on an interim basis.
NORWALK, CT — The Board of Education unanimously appointed Edward Singleton as principal of Roton Middle School, a position he has held on an interim basis this school year, during a recent board meeting.
At the start of the April 5 meeting, Superintendent Alexandra Estrella introduced Singleton as the final candidate for the school's new principal.
Singleton, who previously served as assistant principal for Norwalk High School, was named acting principal at Roton last year after the school's principal, Joseph Vellucci, took a leave of absence for personal reasons, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Singelton thanked Estrella and the district's executive leadership team for considering him for the interim position, which he said led to his interest in applying for the permanent position.
"My overarching mission and goal," Singleton said, "is to ensure that our students at Roton Middle School continue to receive a world-class education that takes them beyond their wildest imagination to go anywhere in life, down the path to success via any avenue that they take to get there."

He also thanked his family and those who believed in him early in his career for helping him get to this point.
"I just look forward to continuing to partner with my exceptionally brilliant faculty and staff, the amazing school governance council and the magnificent PTA to ensure that Roton Middle School continues to provide a world-class, top-notch education to each student within a warm and welcoming environment," Singleton said.
Board of Education Chair Colin Hosten echoed the thanks and appreciation for Singleton's work this school year expressed by a number of people in attendance.
"We are extremely blessed and lucky," Hosten said, "to have administration and teachers here in Norwalk who are among the best...thank you and good luck. We are rooting for you."
Board member Janine Wilks Randolph also spoke highly of Singleton and said listening to his remarks at the start of the meeting made her feel good.
"It's amazing to hear someone speak so proudly of what they're going through right now and discussing and thanking people for the past," Randolph said. "It was just a wonderful thing to hear, and good luck to you in the future. I think it will be great."
