The following obituary of Norwalk resident Ralph S. Vagnone, Sr., 85, is from the Magner Funeral Home:

Ralph S. Vagnone, Sr., 85, of Norwalk, died on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Norwalk Hospital.

Born in Settefrati, Italy, the son of the late Domenico and Antonia Vagnone, he was the loving husband of Jennie (Gambino) Vagnone for 60 inseparable years. At 15 years old, Ralph immigrated to America, and began working as a caddy then for Cassone’s Bakery in Stamford. An independent and innovative self-starter, he then worked as a mechanic and hydraulic assembler/tester for Consolidated Diesel Electric Co. where he did precision work under government contract for military applications, finally retiring from Pitney Bowes.

In his younger years, he was an avid golfer and ballroom dance instructor. He always enjoyed gardening, bocci, bowling and especially loved daily beach walks along Calf Pasture with Jennie, the love of his life. Ralph was a hard-working man devoted to his family.

He was predeceased by 2 brothers Louis and Michael, and a sister Angelina.

In addition to his devoted wife Jennie, he is survived by their 4 sons; Ron, Ralph, Ted (Leslie) and Richard Vagnone, 3 cherished grandchildren Sarah, Sabrina and Sondra, a great granddaughter Natalie, a sister Lucy and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 9, 10:30AM at St. Mary Church, 669 West Ave, Norwalk with burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
