Let's Fight Hunger Together
As you may be aware, many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” when they move. Unfortunately, a lot of this “stuff” is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away. That’s where Move For Hunger comes in.
The Vanderblue Team | Higgins Group Real Estate have teamed up with Move For Hunger and are helping to donate food by clearing the pantry shelves of their sellers homes and dropping off this donated food to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Featured in photo are Realtors (from left) Julie Vanderblue, Chris Sinatra, Janine Vairo and Thora Svalgard-Karukas.

1 in 5 Children in Connecticut are food insecure. The summer months are the most difficult time for our nation’s food banks. During the school year, hungry children get the majority of their daily calories from free or reduced price school lunches. When school is out of session, those calories must come from somewhere else. There are summer meal programs, but over 13 million children face a greater risk of hunger during the summer because those programs are difficult to access and underfunded.

Thankfully, the summer is also the busiest season for the moving industry, so Move For Hunger has a great opportunity to fill the shelves of our communities’ food banks. Move For Hunger works to rescue food from people’s homes that would otherwise be thrown away and get it to local food banks where it’s needed.
Move For Hunger is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works with relocation companies to collect non-perishable food items, and deliver it to food banks all across North America.Visit https://moveforhunger.org for more information!
