Two motorcycle riders - out of a group of more than a dozen - were arrested Sunday on charges of reckless driving and related violations, after they were spotted allegedly speeding and weaving through traffice on I-95 and Route 8, according to state police.
The incident began at about 10:39 a.m. in Stamford, when state police received numerous reports of as many as 18 riders "operating erratically." The group raced through traffic northbound on I-95 past a trooper stationed at exit 21 in Fairfield, with some stopping at the rest area and others continuing onto Route 8/25.
Two troopers tried to block traffic on the connector to stop the group, but they sped off. Troopers were eventually able to block and apprehend two of the riders at the exit 5 ramp on Route 8/25.
