Norwalk Home Heavily Damaged By House Fire: UPDATE

A total of 29 firefighters responded to the house along with other crew members, according to fire officials.

NORWALK, CT — A Chestnut Hill Road home was heavily damaged by a house fire that temporarily closed down a portion of the road Wednesday afternoon, according to fire officials.

In a news release, Deputy Chief Michael McCallum said crews were called to the house around 1 p.m. A total of 29 firefighters responded to the house along with other crew members.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, which began in a finished attic area, in approximately 25 minutes, however the house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, McCallum said.

The home's residents were able to self-evacuate and no injuries were reported, McCallum said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
