Schedule Released For Norwalk Yard Waste Site

The Yard Waste Site in Norwalk will be open for the spring, summer and fall seasons beginning this week.

NORWALK, CT — The Yard Waste Site in Norwalk, located at 15 South Smith Street, opened for the spring, summer and fall seasons Monday and will be open on Saturday, according to city officials.

In a news release provided by the city, the site's hours of operation during the season (April – December) will be:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The scale will be closed Monday-Friday from approximately 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Yard Waste may be brought loose or bagged in brown paper leaf bags, city officials said.

All containers, except brown paper leaf bags, must be emptied and removed. All passenger vehicles must display a Norwalk Disposal Pass as they enter the site.

The 2021 Norwalk Disposal Pass expires on March 31. The 2022 Disposal Pass are available online as of Monday.

Residents will be given a 45-day grace period at the Transfer Station and Yard Waste Site. Residents will be required to have a paper copy of the 2022 Disposal Pass by Monday, May 16, 2022, for cars or SUVs that enter the Norwalk Transfer Station or Yard Waste Site.

Residents can go to the Recreation & Parks Department at City Hall or visit nwlk.norwalkct.org.

For Norwalk residents with pick-up trucks, vans and/or trailers:

The Norwalk Resident Disposal Permit Card for residents with pick-up trucks, vans, and/or trailers will renew on July 1, 2022, and the one-ton free disposal limit will be reset. Still, residents are required to show their 2022 Disposal Pass to the weighmasters at either scale office.
